3 Yummy Ways To Start Your Day

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day so of course you want to make sure it is healthy and delicious. Here are three ideas to kick start your day!

Quick and Easy: Good olde Granola.

Do you need a quick option for those mornings you are rushing out of the door? Even during those busy mornings, it is important to provide your body with the fuel it needs for the rest of the day so that means a good breakfast. Granola is a quick and easy but energy-giving option.

Lets get making:

Spoon some natural yoghurt into a bowl, chuck on your favourite fruit (Here I’ve used raspberries, blueberries and banana), sprinkle on some granola, top with some pumpkin seeds, a light dusting of cinnamon and a drizzle of honey. Then you’re good to go!

The Weekender: Avocado and poached egg on toast.

Toast has never been better.

Ingredients:

  • A slice of your favourite bread
  • Half an avocado
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 cherry tomatoes
  • Handful of rocket leaves
  • Pinch of pepper

Lets get making:

  1. Slice an avocado in half, remove the stone and scoop out the inside
  2. Bring a pan of water to boil. Using a spoon stir quickly until a whirlpool is created in the middle, tip the egg into the centre of the whirlpool and let it cook for 3 minutes.
  3. Slice the tomatoes into chunks and gently fry to soften. Chop the rocket leaves and mix together with the tomatoes. Lastly, lightly season with pepper.
  4. Place the avocado, poached egg and tomato dressing onto the toast and enjoy!

Indulge with Pancakes and Maple Syrup.

Everyone deserves a treat once in a while, don’t they?

Makes 8. Preparation 10 mins.

Ingredients:

  • 130g self-raising flour
  • 1 tbsp caster sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp melted unsalted butter
  • 200ml semi-skimmed milk
  • Sunflower oil
  • Maple  Syrup
  • Raspberries and blueberries
  • Dark chocolate

Lets get making:

  1. Mix together the flour and sugar into a bowl
  2. Make a well in the centre and pour in the beaten egg, melted butter and half of the milk. Mix together thoroughly while adding the rest of the milk a little bit at a time.
  3. Let the frying pan and a few drops of sunflower oil heat up.
  4. Use a spoon to pour in the mixture into circles.
  5. After 40 seconds, flip the pancakes over to brown the other side.  Wait for another 40 seconds. You may need longer depending on the size and thickness of each pancake. Aim for a light golden brown colour.
  6. Pile up, drizzle some maple syrup and scatter raspberries and blueberries. To indulge even more why not add some shaven dark chocolate.
